Miraculous events

The Weeping Madonna of Rockingham

There has been a number of stories related to those who serve at the Holy Family House of Prayer of miraculous events that have taken place while visiting or through the intercession of the tears of Our Blessed Mother.  We have told people who visit that it is not the cottonwool ball that heals or the statue it is through faith and that Jesus is the healer.  We have never placed a focus on the miraculous but thank God daily for all that is given.  We just encourage people to write their story so that we can place it on file.

 

We have a lot of sick people who come to visit and we would love dearly for them to be healed physically if it is God’s will but feel that a spiritual healing is more important.  Patty and Eileen’s Dad Elgar Smith worked up the north of Australia in the 1960’s and having fair skin he developed a melanoma on his back when the girls were 11.  He came to Perth and the doctor removed it but unfortunately the doctor did not get all of it.  When the girls were growing up he would quite often say to them “offer it for the holy souls”.  Elgar went through chemo, radiation and gold implanted in his lung.  He was operated on as the cancer had gone into his face and this left a huge hole near his ear.  He fought the cancer without drugs and chose to offer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.   They never heard him complain and he died at the age of 54.  We all have choices as to what we will do with our everyday crosses.  We can use these crosses for our family and friends.

Lisa’s Story

 

In 2005 Lisa then mother of two had a miraculous event happen to her that drew her to the Holy Family House of Prayer.  She was driving on a street near the shrine and her car filled with the perfume of Our Blessed Mother.  The perfume was very strong and it soon became apparent that Lisa was the only one in the car that could smell it.  Lisa recognized the smell because she had taken a friend to visit the shrine about a year previous.  That evening when she spoke to her husband she told him “at some point this week I know that I have to visit the Holy Family House of Prayer”.  As it happened he wasn’t working on Thursday morning so she took the opportunity to go.  What took place was truly amazing and to hear Lisa’s story please click on the link below:-

Mark’s Story

 

A back problem put me out of the workforce so through necessity I cast around for some lightweight activity involving wood—teaspoon, (is that ridiculously light enough) and items of a similar nature with a fairly high degree of difficulty, just to keep me interested, aimed at the souvenir market.

 

About this time there was considerable media attention being given to a weeping Madonna statue in Rockingham close to where I live.  I made up some bible place marks depicting the Weeping Madonna and presented with the thought to offering them on a sale or return basis.  On 20th June, 2005 I sat with Patty in the little chapel at her house, we discussed the item and when asked the price I said that there would not be any charge, quite contrary to my original intention.  Patty was then called away and I was left alone contemplating my surrounds including the visible tears of the Weeping Madonna.  By the time Patty returned I was in a complete emotional breakdown, she consoled me as you would a child, it was then that I became aware of the fragrance that seemed to have enveloped the area.  What has taken place over the next five years is incredible and if you would like to listen to Mark’s story click on the link below:-
